Right around the time my irrational fantasies of building a studio near my home started coalescing into semi-rational daydreams, a new working space opportunity popped up, saving me approximately a zillion dollars but earning all the bonus tension of leases and neighbors. Still! It's been a great move into a good building and it's been an inspiring change of scenery to record some music in. I've been experimenting with mic and gear setups around my drums and trying to do something tangible and fun with the results.
